What Can We Expect from the iPhone 12?

November 12, 2020

When it comes to the world of smartphones, nothing commands as much attention as the iPhone. This year is no different. Apple fans are waiting with bated breath for the latest iPhone that is going to launch soon. However, its release has been delayed till after September, which is a first.

However, also like every year, nearly everything about its design and specifications has been leaked online. So here is what we know about the iPhone 12 specs, design, and features.

iPhone 12 Release Date

Apple has confirmed that the release of the iPhone 12 will be delayed; most likely due to the coronavirus. However, they haven’t given an alternate release date until now. Some rumors are floating around that the launch may be split into two separate launches.

This is mostly due to the fact that 4 separate iPhones may have been planned. This is keeping in line with Apple’s growing line up of phones every year. Last year, three variations were released, the iPhone XI, the iPhone XI Pro, and the XI Pro Max. Apple has already released a mid-range iPhone this year, with the iPhone SE 2.  However, if it comes up with another extra phone, it may be targeted to the mid-range market.

iPhone 12 Specs

The most significant update is the 5 nm processor that Apple will install in the new iPhones. It’s reportedly going to have gains of 15% on all previous models. Apple’s Arm chips are now leading the way for other phone manufacturers. Their single and dual core performance speeds are now beyond competition.

The Camera module will include a LiDar sensor which will help take pictures with better depth perception. It will also enhance the AR capabilities of the iPhone.

iPhone 12 Design Leaks

Some expected changes include a larger, 6.7-inch screen for the 12 Pro Max, and a smaller notch. However, a total removal of the notch may still not be possible. Face ID sensors have become integral to the iPhone and they can’t be hidden beneath the screen just yet.

One significant change, at least with regards to Apple’s previous color options, is the inclusion of a dark blue phone. The iPhone 12 pro will apparently feature that color which is good news for fans of that aesthetic.

The bad news is that Apple may not bundle any headphones or chargers with their iPhones this time. While Apple has slowly been removing all sorts of gadgets and accessories from its products, this will definitely be an all-time low.

Finally, don’t expect any foldable phones to make a debut. That technology, though significantly improved by Samsung, really hasn’t been perfected. A lot of players are working on it including Motorola and Microsoft. Apple won’t jump in unless it sees a real demand for the foldable phone.

The iPhone 12 will definitely make waves when it launches. However, it may not do anything really game changing or path breaking this year. However, it doesn’t need to.
