August 28, 2020

Let’s Encrypt support is extremely useful when you need to secure your website. Here are 5 SSL hosting options that provide free Let’s Encrypt support.

1.    SiteGround

Siteground gives free Let’s Encrypt support for Single Domain SSL certificates to its hosting users by default. Manual installation only applies if you switch over to WildCard SSL. However, this privilege doesn’t extend to cloud hosting and dedicated servers. Those users’ needs require manual integration.

The procedure is very simple however. You need to go to SiteGround’s Let’s Encrypt tool and then specify the domain name. You then need to select the SSL certificate that you prefer. After you’re done, you need to click Install and SiteGround will handle the rest.

2.    A2 Hosting

A2 Hosting has made a name for itself for providing top-notch performance. It provides Let’s Encrypt by default. These features supplement the already heavily featured hosting packages. A shared or reseller web hosting package grants you Let’s Encrypt as pre-installed into your cPanel account.

Not all users are lucky enough to get that automatically though. If you’re managing the Plesk control panel, you will have to manually enable the Let’s Encrypt via the UI. For managed and VPS accounts, you have to get in touch with the support team.

That being said, the subsequent certificates you get will be applied to every domain in your account. The service will also renew your SSL certificate every 90 days to keep your site’s HTTPS valid.

3.    GreenGeeks

As you’ve probably already guessed, GreenGeeks is an eco-friendly provider. It has fast and very reasonably priced hosting packages. It also includes VPS hosting and reseller hosting. While the service is over a decade old, it was only in 2018 that Let’s Encrypt support was added. Well, better late than never.

GreenGeeks offers two options for SSL certificates; the Let’s Encrypt Wildcard SSL certificate, or the Premium AlphaSSL certificate. The former provides free SSL certificates grants decent data protection. However, the latter does provide better protection for those that can afford the $99.95 per year fee. This provides 256-bit encryption and 2048-bit root strength. There is also a digital seal and a warranty.

4.    HostPapa

HostPapa partnered with Internet Security Group in 2017 and so it’s been smooth sailing for its users. It powers WordPress websites, eCommerce stores, VPS, and shared server websites. The best part about HostPapa is that Let’s Encrypt SSL comes free and automatically with every web hosting package. All you need to do is sign up and register a domain through the service.

If you’re using a third-party registrar for your domain name, this might not be that simple. After you’ve shifted your DNS to HostPapa’s nameservers you’ll have to wait 24 hours for your certificate.

5.    DreamHost

DreamHost offers great web hosting services for basic users. This includes web hosting, WordPress, dedicated servers, and managed hosting. Its Let’s Encrypt SSL offers free SSL and TS certificates. However, there’s no automatic embedding; the certificates must be added manually. The installation is fairly straightforward though and beginners can easily configure their certificates.

With so many SSL hosting options available and on top of that they are all free seems too good to be true. With all this information in one place, users can now make an informed decision on which hosting option will meet their needs the best.
